It’s far more than just an article of clothing. It’s a cherished garment that has warm ;-) memories attached to it.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn Switzerland and Scotland they wear a lot of woolly jumpers. So much so that there are both Swiss and Scottish darning techniques that we can apply to our own knitwear back here in the Netherlands.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn this workshop you will learn how to mend your knitted socks and jumpers by using various styles of darning and Scottish darning. You will learn how to fix small holes in te toes of socks and how to reinforce threadbare areas in socks and jumpers with the Swiss darning technique. These are simple but extremely practical and creative techniques that we can use to extend the life of our favourite jumpers.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWe invite you to bring along your own garments for an exciting journey into the world of mendful knitwear repair and transform them into a creative statement.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAs with all our workshops, tea, coffee and a delicious selection of biscuits and nibbles will be provided to make for an enjoyable and creative day. Sashiko is an age-old method that revolves around strengthening and embellishing textiles with simple yet elegant stitch patterns. Sashiko literally means \"little stitches\" and was originally used to repair and reinforce clothing, but is now also known for its aesthetic value.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eYou will learn the basic stitches and drawing of Sashiko patterns. During the workshop you will discover how to apply these geometric patterns to create beautiful embrodered fabric. will receive practical tips on choosing materials and yarns and experiment with different patterns.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe course is suitable for both beginners and the advanced with an interest in embroidery, Japanese craft techniques and the reuse of materials in a creative way. Perfect for jeans, ‘Sashiko’ literally means ‘little stitches’ and is a form of traditional decorative stitching. Boro is the actual sewing on of patches. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWith these methods you can make the most wonderful decorative patches for denim jackets and jeans. The creative possibilities are endless.
