A thick woolly jumper is a beautiful thing. It’s far more than just an article of clothing. It’s a cherished garment that has warm ;-) memories attached to it.
In Switzerland and Scotland they wear a lot of woolly jumpers. So much so that there are both Swiss and Scottish darning techniques that we can apply to our own knitwear back here in the Netherlands.
In this workshop you will learn how to mend your knitted socks and jumpers by using various styles of darning and Scottish darning. You will learn how to fix small holes in te toes of socks and how to reinforce threadbare areas in socks and jumpers with the Swiss darning technique. These are simple but extremely practical and creative techniques that we can use to extend the life of our favourite jumpers.
We invite you to bring along your own garments for an exciting journey into the world of mendful knitwear repair and transform them into a creative statement.
As with all our workshops, tea, coffee and a delicious selection of biscuits and nibbles will be provided to make for an enjoyable and creative day. I will be there to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the process.
All my courses are open and creative by nature, so any ideas you may wish to explore during the workshop, I will be there to advise and show you the way. I will supply all tools for use on the day along with a selection of woollen yarn you can choose from to make your repairs. You can of course bring along your own as well.
I offer one Mendful knitwear Workshop per month that takes place in my home studio in the Hague (see contact info at the bottom of the website). Pick the best date for you above and sign up. All Workshops begin at 13.30 and are 3,5 hours long. Arrive ten minutes early to get yourself settled in.
Every workshop is open for a maximum of 4 people and a minimum of 2, whether you book with a friend or come alone to meet other mendful darners, you will be very welcome. I speak both Dutch and English fluently so language isn't a problem.
On booking a place you will receive a PDF (in Dutch and English) with further information on how to get here. You can cancel with a full refund up to 48 hours before the event. After 48 hours the refund will be 50%.
